Surface Water

HydroMetrics offers four variants of the GW50™ to meet different surface water monitoring needs:

  • Four variants are all used successfully for different surface water monitoring applications. 
  • Surface water installations are successfully used where the turbidity and DOC is within an acceptable range.  
  • The installation method must be thoroughly planned to anticipate changing site conditions, high rainfall events, weed and organic organisms and changing water levels (a few of the common ones).  
  • Installation within a pipe to protect the sensor can help mitigate the impact, as well as where the sensor is mounted in case of a flooding event.

Options:

  1. The HydroMetrics GW50™ nitrate sensor is designed for installation within a water body where regular attendance is possible. The measurement cell in this sensor is submerged for scheduled measurements. 
  2. The HydroMetrics GW50PC™ nitrate sensor is designed for installation within a water body where regular cleaning is not possible. The measurement cell in this sensor is submerged for scheduled measurements. The Water-Jet™ cleaning system on this sensor can be configured to pump water through the measurement cell on a regular cycle to automatically clean the sensor. 
  3. The HydroMetrics GW50FC™ nitrate sensor is designed so that water can be pumped from the water source and piped directly through the measurement cell in the sensor. 
  4. The HydroMetrics Portable GW50™ nitrate sensor is designed for situations where multiple field measurements are taken in different locations using the grab sampling approach. The water sample is collected and placed directly in the measurement cell of this sensor and the on-board control module activates the sensor and records a nitrate reading.
    • The HydroMetrics Portable GW50™ comes with:

      • 12v LiFePO4 battery pack and; 
      • Power supply / charger.
    • Data is extracted via scanning a QR code with a cell phone or a cable to USB-C.
    • This device can significantly reduce the need for expensive lab processing when a community wishes to understand the overall status of a catchment across multiple sampling points.
